SKILL SELECTION
If players are whiny wimps an can't handle randomness, then instead of a lifepath they can roll 2d6 and have that many xp to put into skills; no learning roll is required. The character will be 26, and still need a background.
AGING
Characters who have reached the age of 38 begin to age physically. From 38, and every 4 years after, the character's player must roll 7+ against aging, with DM-1 for every 4 years after 42. A failed roll means a loss of a random one of Stamina, Physique or Agility. After 60, they begin to age mentally as well, requiring rolls of 7+ with DM-1 for each four years after 64, and failure subtracting 1 from a random choice of Cognisance, Education and Resolve.
A character who reaches 0 in any attribute due to aging is crippled or dead, and cannot be played.
CASH
Each character begins with 2d6 x £1,000.
